Outlaw questions!!

How's it in trash and iron and is it close to the Tejon on depth? Hopefully it runs a little more stable than a tejon. I had a Vaquero and got rid of it, it was one heck of a machine. So now I am looking at this Outlaw and am liking it's features and the extra coils but just want to do a little research on it before pulling the trigger on one.

Any body that uses a Outlaw what your take on it?

I just got my new Outlaw a week ago. So far I ahve had a little trouble with mine. I'm very new to the Tesoro line so this may be all my doing, so lets keep that in mind. I have hunted a spot in the woods near some old cellar holes many times with both my Idx and the F2. They have both done very well ignoring the iron which is everywhere. With the Outlaw, i'm really having some trouble with the iron. It likes to sound off like crazy. I've tried the whole Negative Gb, positive Gb, neutral Gb, it still sounds off. Now, I don't know if this is just how sensitive these machines are and it is what it is, or it's not right. Some have said I will know the difference with experience when I hear a "good" tone amongst the iron. But even turning the disc all the way up it still sounds off in the high iron. It's not very smooth sounding but would love to not have to hear it. I now the disc works because I can disc out other stuff, but that damn old rusty iron drives it insane. I can completley quite down my f2 or idx with very little disc at this site so i'm a little puzzled. I'm not 100% that there's anything wrong with my machine yet though, it may just be user error or nature of the beast, waiting for more people's experiences and thoughts. I took her out for 5 hours yesterday and i'm not sure where she will suit me best. In the sports field, you can't beat the f2 with it's fast recovery and coin magnet that it is. In the heavy iron cellar holes the idx is amazing with it's great depth and iron rejection. So i'm still trying to find where the outlaw will fit. I will keep you posted on my results as i go....Good Luck

I also want to point out that in an air test the depth is amazing! I have yet to dig a really deep target as i'm new with it and seem to be digging the really loud (shallow) targets until I get familiar with a little more. I will say that with the 5.75" coil, a dime sitting on the ground will sound off loud and clear at 9" no problem. How this will all translate to in the ground has yet to be determined. The faint signals I have yet to learn and need alot more time obviously. If I airtest with the coil sitting on a table it's nowwhere near the depth I get when I place a coin on the ground and try it that way after ground balancing. Also using a DD coil is a first for me but am really impressed with how well it will seperate in high junk areas. I tried it out for maybe an hour on my hunt yesterday near the snack stand and it was picking clad from all of the tabs, foil, etc... That impressed my with such a big coil. More to come...

I don't understand why You got rid of a Vaquero and now are searchin' for an Outlaw...btw Outlaw is a nice machine, it has everything a serious searcher need, a no motion all metal, supertuning, good discrimination, it is light and three pieces machine. I do not understand why a main producer has put on market a metal detector that is a sort of bazooka....
Getting back on subject, You will like Your Outlaw, but if You got rid of a Vaquero why You did not do the same with your new entry? Tejon is a very powerful machine, but imho, not so good in high mineralized grounds...

You know I think its your spot , I have a very deep machine, the blisstool, and in the same kind of spot you have I cant get much depth because the nails are so infested, it only takes a small nail to mask a target , so cranking the gaine is a no , no use less gaine and a smaller coil or just dig the nails , you may have coal ash this probly does not help . my advise hunting with it would be small coil, lower gain dont go at it super tuned , use short sweeps in both derections, this may bring somthing out for you , and last of all dig out the nails I did this with my golden umax, and it worked after removing a nail, suddenly a high tone came thru it was a merc dime somtimes the only way to beat nails is to ingage them and remove them . hope this helps some Gunnar
