Outlaw Question

This may have been answered allready and I missed it, but is the outlaw 4 pin or 5 pin ? H.O.T. technology or standard like the Bandido II and Eldorado ?

Umax 5 pin

Yes

Tesoro has kept its coils a standard 5 pin concentric for the most part and imagine a coil from a 25 year old unit would work however if not sure give Tesoro a call.

Widescan coils are just about the same but if used on an ID unit may have to be tuned to your unit for accurate TDI.

Visit the Tesoro homesite and click on coils for a full evaluation on different sizes and compadibility...as all available are listed...

Yes, all 5 pin coils regardless of the year, will fit all 5 pin housings.
Units that have a factory preset ground rejection should be tuned to the coil. No one coil will be tuned the same. Too many variables in each coil to be exactly the same.

Hi Robert, Just for a bit of clarification so some of the newer folks will understand that the compatable coils/machines can be swapped from machine to machine and still work at near enough optimum success without having to be sent in to be tuned to any particular machine. That is one of the great things about Tesoro that sets them apart from most, if not all other detector brands. For the "optimum" performance it is of course best to have machine and coil tuned together,if you planned to never swap coils but the varriance in

in machine to machine (factory setting) should be hopefully so little as to allow for the coil swaps to take place and still provide the convience of being able to use different coils for different situations, and still enjoy close to, or close enough to have optimum success. It is like Tesoro "sorta" planned it that way from the beginning and that is Bigtime Cool! Correct me if I am wrong on this so as not to confuse some of the new folks thinking about coil tuning etc.I have been swapping coils on my older/newer Tesoros since the 80's with no problems and having a ball with the convience of it.. HH, Charlie

You are right. However, your ground adjust will not be perfect.

I have checked using a 9x8 coil from my Vaquero to my Tejon and the difference between coils on the same machine may affect the ground balance by half a turn. Wish it wasn't so but it is. All the more reason to get a Tesoro with a manual ground balance, or get the machine tuned to the coil you plan on using most. I had my Silver tuned to the 10x12 and the difference in depth is great.

Shouldn't be long now! First Outlaws will be at dealers next week and in owners hands the following week. Then we should get some really great feedback. I can't wait to hear just how well this new unit performs in different conditions. It's ashame that the winner of the only one deliverd so far at Prospecting convention hasn't chimed in with observations.
Mark me anxious.
Hope all have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

The winner of that detector will play with it in the yard and then sell it.................

Thanks everyone for the information. This means that the 12x10 concentric coil can be used on the Outlaw.

This along with the 12x10 DD coil that comes with the detector should bring up some deep relics and coins.
