Outlaw has static

Digger 45

I tried what Gunnar was doing in his video in all metal no motion, with a nail, a gold ring and foil. Not working very good, when pressing the retune button, it goes silent but when i move the coil it blares loud and stays on and won't go off, have to switch to all metal or discrimination to get back to normal. Also i'm getting static and when i ground balance in get static. Moved to different area and same static. I will check it out at the park and in different areas that i haven't had any problem with electrical interference

Hi, digger. I was having a similar problem with mine so I called tesoro and talked to Rusty. He said the outlaw will act strangely if the battery gets too low. I put in a new battery and my problem was solved. Hope this helps.

I had brand new Rayovac's in my Tejon and a Pistol probe and neither would work properly. Using Durecell, Energizer or an industrial battery I have no issues.

I was starting to think that maybe the battery might be the problem, it was sent with a panasonic battery which i have never had any luck with so i will give it a different battery tonight and see what happens.

The first time out i didn't have any problems and went about three hours, but the battery may not have been fresh. Will get back on this issue soon.

Mine does that when battery is low, looks like you got a cheep battery with it . isnt that nice they did that for you .

Batteries are often the first culprit. I'm surprised at the comment on Ray O Vacs as their top alkaline line has been truly excellent in all my detectors.

I was surprised with Rayovac as well, I even emailed the company as I thought it was my unit screwing up and they suggested trying another brand and it worked. Maybe I got a bad batch? I don't know

Well it looks like that the battery was good that come with the Outlaw and that i was getting a little EMI but the real reason was that i wasn't ground balancing totally right. Not until i read that you should balance until the unit is as quiet as possible then it quieted down and performed much better. I called Tesoro and got some great tips and excited about going to the park and giving it another try. Love the three coil set up, so easy to change in the field when the needed.
