Outlaw & Cleansweep Hunt

I decided to get off the fence and picked up an excellent condition used CS from a member.

Fresh hand-off from our mailman, coil still in the box, I drove to a school I hadn't been to before and there was a guy there with his CTX in the Tot Lot. I installed the coil, visited with the guy for a bit, and he invited me to detect the chips as well. I threw a quarter on the ground and it wouldn't pick it up until I got the GB perfect, are they normally that picky?

After about 2 hrs (needed to help my son with his truck) I think I have a pretty good feel for it... covers ground quick, pinpoints off the nose real nice, seemed to pick up equipment posts further away than the stock coil (any tips?), 90% of the targets I can pickup with my propointer before digging and most of the ones I couldn't were canslaw, larger brass, etc. I did however pick up a 60's quarter and a wheat cent at 4" + plus so as usual, dig the solid signals. I picked up about a buck, a charm, junk earring, and an assortment of tabs, and plumbing parts.

For the hunting I normally do it won't be on my Outlaw all the time but I will take it with me when I travel to visit family and friends for some quick outings at the newer parks and sports complexes.

The 8 inch stock coil on The Outlaw seemed way more Sensitive than The Clensweep Coil. That was my experience, But I'M after lost Jewelry on The Sports Fields & TOT Lots and need all The sensitivity I can get, and prefer The stock coils or smaller ones.

I've used a cleansweep on a Cibola and Tejon. Have not found that it was super sensitive to ground balance. The side of the coil does not get real close to the poles, but the end can get pretty close. I'll work around poles with a slow side to side sweep but with the nose of the coil aimed at the pole. I may slide the coil slowly close to the pole and listen for any double sound offs, the first sound on a target then the second on the pole.
Cheers,
tvr

Yesterday I tried the tip of the coil toward the poles at a small park but couldn't tell how effective it was since the tot lot was void of all targets, figured someone had been there recently. Did manage $3.40 in clad and a junk necklace in the rest of the park in less than 2 hrs. I'm confident the Cleansweep does a quick job on stuff 3" or less in my mineralized soil. HH
