Outlaw at the beach?

Has anyone used the Outlaw at the beach? If so how does it work in the wet/dry sand? Curious how it compares to the Vaquero and the Lobo, recovery speed, depth, discrimination ect.

I cant say I am a great detectorist. I am however fairly devoted. I think I detect on average about 4 days a week. Thanks. I am an example that just because you may spend alot of time at something doesn't mean you will be successful. I have found no gold, no silver coins, and a very limited amount of silver jewelry, and all of the good stuff was found with my Compadre. Nothing so far with my Xterra 705, and I have put in more hours with the 705 than I ever did with the Compadre. Just seems strange to me.

Any single frequency VLF detector will function just fine in the dry sand.

In the wet sand, they all do poorly. Your best bet would be the Vaquero which gives you the best hope because you can manually gorund balance, but even if you can get it to run fairly quiet, there will be great loss of depth and sensitivty.

In wet sand, you need either a dual/multi-frequency detector or a PI detector to get the kind of depth and sensitivity you are going to want.

I think the outlaw would do best since it GB in the disc mode, the others only GB in the AM mode, HH hank

You say the vaq would be best because of manual gb but the outlaw has one also.

I checked and you are right. I was misinformed.

But please bear in mind thta I said about single frequency detectors is wet salt sand still stands. Performance will be sub-standard.

Thanks for the info I am leaning tward the Outlaw as of now. I like the coil options that come with it. I am going to get a Lobo eventually so I wont need the Vaq for prospecting. Still wondering if the Outlaw has the same recovery speed of the Vaq.

I'm a little confused about the GB. If the detector only GBs manually in all metal mode then is the GB fixed in disc mode?

Only the outlaw can GB in both modes, I think it would be a nice addition to my Gumax.

This is the first I have read about this and disappointing if true. Just so I am clear, if I always hunt in discrimination mode, are you saying that I can never ground balance the Vaquero to my soil?
