Outlaw and Clean sweep coil

I have been running my Outlaw and CSC combo lately and here are my observations. Its not deep so you really have to keep it low. I keep the disc pointed right at foil. If you are cherry picking open fields its a great coil. If you only dig good signals you will dig little trash. Not really good in trashy areas but this should be obvious. I dig any repeatable signals. Even if they dont sound great. Using this method of digging any repeatable signals I have found more ear rings than with any other detector. This what surprised me the most. I have also found many coins and some rings just at the range of the coil. If you dig down more than 4 inches it will be large trash. I suppose it could be a silver dollar but in a modern park thats not likely. Just some thoughts.

Have you tried all metal , and turning down the threshold to just where you can still goer a gold ring at 3" and not hear a small foil or staple thats how i would hunt , you know I wish they would have put the ED180 on the outlaw but not with standing if I used a clean sweep it would be on the outlaw

I will try that. I really dont use all metal much. I think one of the problems with having more than one detector is that I dont spend as much time learning what each can really do. I actually use my Compadre more than anything. Its the only detector I have that almost never finds me a steel bottle cap. One of the nice things about the CSC is that it works great at getting recent drops while ignoring the old trash down deep.

I really want a clean sweep coil , wish they put them on a compadre . A " compadre Sport" edition just for them big sports fields with all the goods in the top inch or two

Yup I'd buy one !

I put mine on my Compadre. It performed very poorly. I think this was due to tuning problems. My 10x12 widescan was also poor. The smaller coils were fine. If tesoro made an CSC specifically for the 12 mhz range it would probably work better. Just guessing though. After modding my Compadre to accept other coils I went back to a fixed 5.75 coil. It works best for what the Compadre is for.

I like the Outlaws all metal because its not as hot as the Vaquero, and you can tune it down and just get the meat & potatoes, my mirage does this even better, but i would almost like another outlaw just because its not so hot , its mellow ,
