Outlaw All Metal Mode

Hi everyone. I posted this question in another thread but felt bad as it was sort of a hijack, sorry Razor. I'll ask it here in a new thread.

My question is about the all metal mode on the outlaw being tied into the disc knob.

Place the machine in all metal non motion with disc at minimum. You'll notice say a penny will sound off at a great distance and very "round" sounding. Now if you turn the disc to say foil, the penny now sounds off much sharper as if in disc mode and you lose half of the depth. This was done in an air test and not on the ground. I just found this very odd. I always thought that once in all metal that the disc isn't part of the circuit anymore. Am I wrong?

Gunner was just talking this subject.I think moving the disc in all metal can effect the detector settings.Gunnar will tell us. :O

Yes he did reply to me in the thread I unintentionaly hijacked. I figured i'd post it here in a new thread and get some other peoples thoughts. He is the man though. it's cool that he makes all of these videos for our knowledge....

me iam a info junkie but try this put Outlaw dis at foil and ground balance and recheck moving dis

hear is what i have found , I am still learning , in this video i had the discriminate set at foil and ground balanced and then put it in No motion , and you can see if i moved it away i would lose depth aor it would get loud, , but in my last video i had the disq set all the way back and then ground balanced and it worked but againe you cant move it after that or it will get loud so as I am no electonics geneuos I only can say this if you want to use the no motion 1st ground balance in threshold and then make shure the disq is wheat you want it so when you switch into disc its ready and dont move it it will efect your no motion if you move it . I posted an old vidoe showing what happens if you move the dial , so keep it whear you want it then ground balance in threshold and then switch into no motion I do find that i can use the threshold to gaine or lose depth after , hope this help Gunnar http://www.findmall.com/read.php?17,1835918

I'd like Allcav to chime in on this. Let us know a little more about this mystery of disc knob tie in to all metal...
I wonder if this is something they are aware of? Is there a benefit of this tie in? Should this be happening? Non of this is in the manual thats for sure.

I was just playing with this and I found that in all metal no motion with disc set at min it works great and when you turn the disc up you are detuning the coil wich makes it easier to pinpoint in no motion. If you push the retune button it all goes back to normal. Now if you push the re tune with your disc set to foil the machine is set good then if you raise the disc more it will detune the coil again but if you lower the disc it makes the coil ultra sensitive and it starts going crazy . So the way I see it no matter where the disc is set when in no motion pushing the retune button brings you to zero and if you raise the disc it starts lowering the coil sensitivity into the negatives and if you lower the disc it puts the coil into the positives. ...... how can we use this to our advantage? Well if you have multiple targets its goin to be hard to pinpoint so raise the disc and it makes it easier. Thus super pinpointing. Also it makes the depth drop of so if you don't want to pick up all the deep iron raise the disc and its not going to go as deep. Lowering the sensitivity dosent change the depth much at all in all metal mode. Its like changing the size of your coil on the fly. Everyone please play with this a little and tell me what else you find out. I just got the outlaw today and still have much to learn .... Have fun

You are correct. I just tried it and it's true. i learned something new!! I Love this machine..

I think thats the whole point of the retune button. Nothing else makes sense. Its great how were all able to learn from each other.
