It's true, I am but a land lubbin' river pirate most of the year, but a work friend of mine in Charlotte sent me these pics. His son was surfing the OBX on November 2 and 3 as the storm passed by. If it wasn't for the dirty green water, I would have thought that big wave was in Hawaii!!
I made it out to Tybee Island, Ga the last week of October. The beaches facing the Savannah River channel had been badly eroded due to dredging and weather, but by the time I got there, they had mostly filled back in. Targets were mostly non-existent except for the maddening beach fence wire (White's Surf PI). Anyway, a bad day in the surf is better than any day at work, any time!
