Out with the D2 today

Well, I just got my D2 back from Whites yesterday and I tried it out a little last night but not enough. So I decided to give it a good shot today. The heat index is over 100 here but I wanted to go anyway. I talked with a new friend today and he gave me some new info about a park that I had been to in the past that I didn't know. (Thanks again Jack for the info!)

I made a few stupid moves today in my excitement wanting to get out. First, I forgot to bring water and second, I left my ear buds at home. (I use them in hot weather sometimes) I was out there for two hours and I started feeling sick so I thought it best to call it a day and maybe go back tonight when its cooler. BUT.... While I was there, I managed to score this nice 1905 Barber quarter first thing right off the bat. It was about 7 inches deep Then I found an old wrench and then a merc!...1941. It was only about 5 inches but close to a nail. Then I got a aluminum cross at about three inches and a bic lighter that was on top of the ground. Got three wheats and some clad and that's when I started feeling sick. Decided to quit but being hooked like I am I just detected back to my truck not really overlapping my swings and got lucky and found a 1950 rosie at 5 inches! Nice afternoon hunt except for the sickness... Going to take a nap now and see how I feel later about getting out again!
Thanks for looking!

That rocks..sounds like a lucky day indeed. What program are you hunting in? I've been toying with HiPro, and the D2 in some of the places I've hit with the 5.3 coil previously.

I'm thinking about heading out this afternoon, maybe..but heat index is over 100 here as well, that humidity is a total killer.

Nice finds Magic and to all reading this..........WATER, WATER, WATER.........mandatory......Dehydration hits you like a ton of bricks and sometimes you feel like you can't even make it back to your vehicle. Been there, done that.

I want and "need" ground with targets like that. I found an old school site that has not been hunted and have not yet secured permission to hunt there yet. It should be promising it was a School for almost 30 years till 1930.

You are on some rich ground...... "Beat the Heat" Drink water.

Sounds like the D2 is working well for you. I'm still waiting to get mine back, I sent it in on June 23. Not use to having Whites take so long on customer service.

Bet the cross hit hard, what did that VDI out at?

Magic, you stated you forgot your earbuds at home. I made the mistake of not ordering wireless headphones when I bought the v3. Had kinda wished I would have when around allot of people now. I did find some "Auvio Wireless Digital Earbuds" on ebay. The little box basically plugs into the back of the detector with an adapter of course due to they are 3.5mm. Then sends a wireless 2.4gHz signal to 2 small earbuds. Stays charged 7 hrs. and very small. Not like big headphones. Just thought i'd bring this up. Haven't recieved them yet to test and give feedback but will once I get them.

I would be very interested in how these work out for you!

The cross hit at 78 vdi..

Schrecky, I know what you mean, Mine was gone for a month and 5 days.

Everyone take Larrys advice! I was stubborn enough (and stupid) to get caught up in the hunt and not get water when I needed it. I could have drove two blocks and bought some but I was into the silver finds and could make myself leave and I paid for it...Its not worth it. Lucky all it did was make me sick for about 5 hours.
