Out with the Compadre ...

I took out the Compadre yesterday to a few tot lots and
I dug a ton of trash! I'm looking for the jewelry so I set
my disc between the I and the R on IRON.

I was really surprised how deep I was digging trash
with the Compadre.

In the end ...besides a gazillion pulltabs I found a few
nickels and some other clad.

One of these day ... the elusive gold will show up!

Every piece of gold I have found so far has been a surprise...I was expecting something different.
Very small rings...I was expecting foil.
One ring a little bit larger...I was sure I was going to dig a nickel.
One signal was another tab...but it wasn't a tab.
I recently dug a key that came in zinc, but a nice thin gold chain was attached.
The two best finds I have had, and I remember both to this day just like it happened two seconds ago, were two large gold class rings.
My detectors indicated zinc...they both sounded like a zinc penny...sized up like a zinc penny...but they were not zinc pennies.

I have now dug gold at Iron, Foil, Nickel, Tabs and Zinc.
Is it any wonder I turned into one of those dig it all hunters?
I had to, there is no longer any choice for me.

Lots of great emotions out there when you are digging in the great outdoors, but nothing better than expecting something else and see something nice and shiny and gold pop out of the ground instead.
An exhilarating, addictive feeling that you will always want more of, I assure you!

That's a nice collection you dug up!

Yes, I'm digging all as well now! I'm went full circle.
I started with a Explorer then a V3 and few other
detectors in between and now the Compadre.

Since I'm digging all ... I decided that I didn't need
a high end machine. I do however need to get
another detector with a bigger coil and most
likely going to get me another AT Pro.

You can't go wrong with Tesoro or Garett !

Great detector that Compadre. Hit the swing sets hard, with tight overlaps. I found 4 rings in the swing areas. I guess those moms are pushing their kids and . . . The last ring I found just last Saturday, 925 and 16 small diamonds. The others are 10K and 14K gold. What great hobby!

The last ring I found was found with the "V". It was only 4" down and would have been an easy hit for the Compadre. The other three where Compadre finds. I can't stress enough the importance of tight overlaps with the coil. When I spend time with" new to the hobby" folks, one of the first things I do is have them walk a straight line, 50' or so while detecting. Then I walk the same path as they watch. I can't tell you how many times I get a hit on a coin, or other target, even trash. The point is, their missing targets because of their technique. When they see the results for themselves it really hits home. This may sound like a no brainer, but we're all guilty at some point of getting sloppy, and it will cost us some great finds.
