today for 4 & 1/2 hrs.Got preached at by this loony woman who wasnt making any sence at all, and poking at me with her fingers which was irritating.I did my best to ignore her.A bit later a police officer drove thru the area so I talked with him and he sent her on her way.
Got a total of $ 9.54 including a bunch of quarters and dimes, not many nickels,a 4-5 pound mallet that the carnival folks lost in the grass, a non working cell phone and small flashite and a nice small pocket knife. Not a bad day at all on a nice sunny day. Also got a worn out wheatie, no silver or jewelry. This area is a tremendously trashy site but the CoinStrike handled it well.Got fooled by a few rusty bottle caps and stuff but thats ok.Now to relax as Im wore out:))

Nice finds Mike,I'm surprised with that hammer you found anyone would give you a rough time.

Coinstrike once learned is a competent unit and one wonders why Fisher is no longer making them. Time marches on I guess...

I have met loopy people too when out detecting , most people are ok but i have had had some stupid dog walkers give me some mouth on the odd occasion pretty rare though. Since i have done body building and wear steel toe cap boots i have no hassle from people so far so good.

I almost never have problems with people in the park. But it does take some effort and patients..Even though I'm going to get dirty hunting I wear casual clothing thats appropriate for the park setting.(I try not to look like a homeless person) I have two vehicles a 2005 Jeep Willies replica and even though its new and updated with cruise control CD player etc most people seem to think this as an old Army surplus jeep, including the star on the hood and the military insignias on the side..(This could give the a negative impression by park workers and the park goers who would say "here comes the eccentric guy with the metal detector in the old Army jeep".My counter for this problem( which is my wife's jeep not my choice) I driver my other vehicle when I can pry it away from my wife, with the Hummer H3 I notice better treatment from the workers and public at the park.I try to make time to answer questions in a friendly manner when approached by park workers or the public.I have dealt with the public and park workers and supervisors in another park as a National Nordic Ski Patrolled for a lot of years and at this place the people, police, and rangers have become like family and friends.Bottom line most of these people at the park are there just to enjoy the park and most of them are not looking for any trouble. So disarm the curious any problems with a little sense of humor and how you are there just to enjoy the park Sorry for rambling.

I recently got a coinstrike, have a couple of minelabs and an Ace 250, love the coinstrike has to be one of the most accurate machines around. I get some goofy people, lately I have had people who seem genuinely interested and ask intelligent questions vs have you found my diamond ring, etc, etc. Some ask, how deep that the machine detect, what are some interesting finds, they get a big kick when I show them what is in the ground. Keep plugging away sometimes they are very curious.mmIs it true they are no longer making it.
