Packed up the Saturn Wagon early this morning and headed to the beach. It's about a 45 minute drive from home.

Just like I figured, still ice on the lake, except for the shoreline. Some of the sand is exposed, some isn't. It was still cool, so I grabbed my GTI 1500 and worked the grassy areas in front of the cottages. Managed to find a bunch of coins from the 40's on up but no silver. I also put on the WOT coil on my "MUSKY" to see how it would work on the sand. Man...does it go deep! But the pinpointing is a challenge. I grabbed my shovel and found that the sand was still frozen beyond 6-8 inches. I did manage to find a shotgun shell, a 22 shell, a 1939 penny and lots of rusted bottle caps. Well, next came the biggest challenge....."THE LAKE". I put on an extra pair of wool socks, sweat pants over my jeans and then my rubber chest waiters. My water machine for the day was a Whites Surfmaster II, which I had modified for extra sensitivity to gold and depth.

Mmmmm, gonna be a long day, so I took my lunch (sausages, apple and beverages) and stored them on the ice, to keep the food fresh. Heck of a deal!

Well, about 4 hours was all I could stand in the ice-cold water, so I packed up my goodies and headed back to shore. I got a good variety of junk and keepers.

Well, I got 50 something coins which worked out to silghtly over $8.00, some toy cars and two rings. Just a super day!
Below is a pic of a bug which I found on the ice near my food. I used the macro format on my camera and got a shot of that little bugger
