Out for a short hunt to a new site

Been busy with my siding and roof work before winter gets here.My wife suggested I needed a break,so off for a search with my brother. My brother's friend attended a small Bible college in the area, with an old football field and could give us exact location of the field setup so he joined us for the hunt.I've been called a couple of times by my brother how this is going to be a prime place to search. After about a hour and half at the site I recovered a lot of deep can slaw and newer clad. This area may have a sweet spot but the area I detected had a lot of fill dirt. The three of us had the same results. The best find here for me was a 1950 Chevy key metal key fob.My brother did find a silver ring. Not ready to give up we went to a rough neighborhood site an early 1900's school. This old school looked like a great place to find some old coins, nice lawn, but again deep clad because of fill dirt. The oldest coin found was a 1965 dime.I used my Sovereign Elite with the 800 Tornado coil.HH Ron

Ron,
I have several places out here in the desert that I have permission to hunt. You look from a distance and just start drooling at the possibilities of the area. Three of these places I have literally scoured and have found nothing. Well, maybe next time.

John, raining here today,so I went to the State park and just scouted the site.Newer lawns and beach area, this place isn't worth the trouble with all the restrictions. They have a firing range on the other end of the park a 4-5 mile drive,I used this firing range 25-30 years ago to do a little shooting.I got a Bushmaster AR15 a few weeks back and stopped by and asked a few questions to see if any policy changes have taken place. The rifle has a red dot scope and the ranger suggested elevation 1.5 inches low at 25yds to zero in at 200 yds.By the way Breaking Bad series brought back a lot of memories about Albuquerque. Thanks Ron

Ron you are lucky. A wife that suggests that you need a break is one of the Best. Mine either likes to get me out of the house of knows how much I enjoy detecting as she sometimes suggests that I need to go "Play." 49.5 years and counting. Think I will try to keep her around for a while.

George, yes we are lucky to have good wives.Worked today on the siding, replacing the insulation as I go and staining.I'll get out for more detecting before the weather breaks, but not as much as I would like. Thanks Ron
