Out and about with the Mojave

Had some free time today headed out to a spot 5 minutes away where I noticed the gates were open inviting me in for a spell.
Place I hit pretty good a number of times that always seems to produce something. Heard it was supposed to rain later today...and it did start 5 minutes after I got home.
It was a colder breezy hunt, dressed warm enough at least to last an hour or so... Lasted for at least 3 hours because, I was finding coins.

The Mojave with the 7" coil really hunts quiet, a big change from using noisy strung out digital target ID machines. Rather refreshing.......had a blast with the Mo. Cleaned some more trash out of the place, some can slaw, pull tabs and a couple bottle caps. Found a number of Canadian clad dimes, some were down 6", some on edge. Picked up a few nickels, maybe 5 quarters, some pennies, two $2 coins, one $1 coin and a 2001 dog tag. Pinpointing got a bit easier, especially when I kept the Deteknix pinpointer turned on in my left hand, ready for action. Again, found a number of deep coins on edge.

Looks like the Mojave is a keeper.

When you dig the plug, they are either lying flat within the plug or on edge. Or when the plug is out, many times when on edge, they are off to the side.
Canadian steel clad coins on edge will give an audio signal below the foil disc range, on a target ID machine, they read into the iron ID numbers. On a Tesoro give a clean coin sound.
I set my Mojave disc in the iron range, then thumb the control to see where the item discs out. Up here you use less disc if you want clad.

Still learning that, its suttle which reminds me of the Cibola. By thumbing the Disc knob from iron setting where you get a nice solid signal to where the target starts to drop out, you get another audio report that kind of give an indicator of the target. Think I almost have the pulltab-snap tab pegged. From yesterdays hunt had a few surface coins, gathered there was a particular sound given off, something akin to an overload signal given off by other detectors but, not an overload.

I'll just keep at it.
Getting back to using a Tesoro, found I was not missing using a TID machine.
For me the Mojave has a nice tone.

May I need to pay more attention to my coins. As much as I can, I use a ground down screwdriver to pop a coin. Thanks.. KEN
