Our spin down in So. Padre Island way.......................

Gulf Hunter

Huntress and I met up with the Silverstar Lawman, in his home territory of South Padre Island. What a gentleman pirate he is too! Makes a looter feel right at home, as it were, savvy? Huntress and her son Dylan and I left out on Sunday morning, after church. Made it down there in around 6 hours. It is a mighty long way in any direction across Texas, LOL! What a beautiful area to hunt! Anyway, got down there and it was dark, but I called Lawman and told him we were checked in and we were going to go ahead on down to the wadda and check it out, while he was in route. You know me, always game for a little night hunting! Upon entering the surf, my heart sank and so did my feet, into the soft sand and after 15 minutes, 1 penny and 1 nickel, Huntress and I bailed and hoped monday would be a better day. It was sanded in REAL bad sunday evening. I called Lawman and waved him off of coming, due to the poor conditions. Monday, we got up, ate breakfast and called Lawman to meet up with us. At around 11A, we tried a spot in the bay and conditions were similar to Sunday evening, but Huntress had a few coins there. Water was FULL of Man-O-Wars. I stayed WAY clear of them and the tentacles beneath. Waved Lawman off bay sight too. Finally, we met back at the hotel and Lawman joined us in the surf for our 1st hunt together. His dog had eaten the Excal the night before, so he was using the SOV, wetsanding and hunting the lane. I was all over the place in the surf, from wetsand to over my head. There were some pretty cool holes out in the surf I was hunting, but quite frankly most of the loot came from the wetsand and shallow surf. The ring was found in the mine, about waist to chest deep though. Gold and silver were hiding. That's another story though!

Total clad count was $2.31. Ended up with a DAV hat pin, which I'm told stands for "Disabled American Veterans", a gold plated cat pendant heart stopper and the stainless spinner ring, w/symbols. We baled at around 6P, under duress. Huntress was wanting to go eat dinner and Lawman and I did not have our headlights to see. We met up with Lawman and Mrs Lawman that evening at Blackbeard's (how appropriate, wouldn't ya'll agree?) for dinner and Lawman would not let us pay! Truely a gentleman pirate, indeed! Thanks again Silverstar Lawman and Mrs. Lawman for a great time in South Padre Island!

We'll be back!

Congrats on the finds GH... Nice story.. Its cool making friends online and then hunting with them... I have met quite a few from the boards and hunted with them :)

That's really cool, and that's a gorgeous place to stay. You never know what conditons you're gonna get for the hunt, but meeting a fellow loop-swinger is usually friendship right off the bat. Sounds like you had a good time, and I'm sure that you will be back.
