The trip from Michigan to Virginia is routine 3-4 times a year to my parents in Roanoke.About a 1/2 mile from the first toll point on the West Virginia turn pike is a very small grave yard on the left hand side.I have always felt a haunting emotion about this old grave yard and never understood why.Anyway this time through I got off the Cabin Creek exit drove to the Wet Branch under pass and walked up the steep road to the old cemetery. My Grandmother's relatives on the Pomeroy side are buried here.So this would mean my Great and Greatgreatgrand parents and other relatives are some where here in this cemetery. The big monument head stone would be my Greatgreatgrand father 1836-1911.Yep a part of my history and actually yours too. There is a former NBA player that has the same granddad you know him because his silhouette is on the NBA Logo.Jerry West from Cabin Creek West Virginia by the way for many years he was the manager for the LA Lakers. There is also two graves of brothers that was killed in WW ll buried next to one another. This cemetery is just one example of history and why its not right to use a metal detector at these sites.
