I'm lucky that I live in a state that has great plat maps...Indiana
I currently have 3 copies of my county plats or land owners record 1876, 1900 and 1927
I find that by using all three helps along with current topo and google maps to see the change to an area.
Another great tool that we have available to us here is the Local County Plat directory which lists the owners of land.
I believe it is produced every 5 years but am uncertain. I purchased mine from our local Soil and Water conservation district office.
The publishing company's web address is www.platmaps.com
I believe the following states are offered: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, Ohio and Pennsylvania
Just thought I share some stuff. Bob you and everyone else contributing to this is just awesome.
Now if I can just learn to overlay these dang plats
I'll be to bug you guys alot on here
My goal for this year is to cut down on travel and concentrate on my county and work the maps harder and better than previous years.
