other aftermarket coil

i am looking to add a new coil, i have the 6x10, and i know some of you like the 5.3...which is what i am leaning towards....anyone try anything other than whites, and what was your opinion...i am looking at kellyco's towards the 8x6 sef and their smaller 5" round

[size=large]seems to be a big secret and silence surrounding the questions on the 8x6 coil. I've been searching the web for just the weight difference and depth but no info is out there. my feeling is that it's redundant to buy both the whites 6x10 and the sef 8x6. you lose only 2" on length. shouldn't lose any depth unless the hype on better depth is true as regards the sef. I've seen at least three other queries on this subject and the same results. no responces.
the idea of the web for research, to me, is if there's a reputation or problems you usually stumble on them. word gets out. so far nothing.
all i want is the weight and preformance info.nothing techy.
i'll keep searching.

My main coil is the 6X10 coil, but I also have a 12.5 Excelerator( oldie but goodie) and a 12 X 15 SEF coil that I use in open fields. Both do great. The 12 X15 Is a bit heavier though. A few of my friends have the 10 X 12 SEF and they really like them. I really like my 12 X 15.

[size=large]Joe in MD,
i for one know the larger coils are too much for me. except maybe the 10x12. depends if it weighs the same or less than the D2. otherwise i'm just looking for the info on the 8x6 to know if it is working on the mxt or not. we all want the best out there for our hunting needs. the SEF coils are said to be deeper but i just don't know. i've heard good things on the larger ones.

Hi Todd,

I recently purchased the SEF 8x6 and after getting used to it I use it as my main coil. I have the 5.3 but to me it seems the SEF goes much deeper. I am still a rookie but so far I do like it. One thing I did notice is the SEF coil is much thicker where it attaches to the shaft and I keep losing the nut off the bolt that attaches it.

I have the 10x12 SEF coil and used it at the DIV this year and I really never noticed the weight. I like the coil and it is my first choice. The 5.3 is a great coil as well.

[size=large]i bought the minelab explorer 8x6 sef and the sales person included the longer nut and bolt because she knew i was going to need it. sounds like you should have been warned as well. they're the sole sellers so should know whats needed to make em work. either call em for a set or go to lowe's or home depot.

You could not tell more about the search coil 12.5. I used 10 x14 "and 10 Detech coil 10 " is preferred, the depth is the same.

Thanks HH,

I will try and get a longer bolt.
