ORX and big iron question?

I took the ORX out on her maiden voyage yesterday I was using coin fast program hunting a old house site littered with iron of all sizes. I noticed that pieces of big iron would ring in a high tone and high 90's VDI. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to adjust a setting or is this normal operation?
 
Iron wrap around.
I find that if you left the coil up and are still getting that signal at say 10+ inches it is always big iron.
But some of those big iron relics are keepers.
