Ornate iron decoration??

I live in central Iowa, avid MD'r but I am trying to find out about a piece of ornate iron that has 1836 and the #'s 753 & 641 stamped on the reverse...it's approx. 4-1/2" tall, 3-1/2" wide and only approx. 1/8" thick...it seems to be hand made and is not perfect in the design on each side..

Hard to see, but 1836 on bottom edge with 753 above and very light 641 above that...can anyone help in what this might be or where to look for info??? Iowa wasn't even a state until 1848....so maybe pioneers brought it along?? should I clean or leave as is???

Good luck with an ID. I don't have a clue, but somebody on these forums will probably help you figure it out.

It could have come off an cast iron stove some of the old stove had an chrome dome with ornate iron decoration on the top like you found. JimNCNY

Definitely a Victorian design, architectural style, like door ornament, hank
