The square hole must mean It was used for a carriage bolt......grin

Actually it must have been a "lucky" coin or some kids show and tell gone bad.
Found an inch under the sod in a ball field and only required a warm water rinse.
This hobby produces quite a grab bag of interesting finds!
 
I thought I saw somewhere thats what some early chinese coins look like ?. They have a square whole,and that you could find em here where chinese workers and immigrants use to live etc.
