Ormond Beach Day 2

OK, Still no Gold. The surf was extremely rough and a rogue wave killed my cellphone (but I did save the DFX !!!). I wasn't even in the water when it hit, all I had time to do was raise the DFX high into the air. Man can live without a phone but not without his detector. You have to have your priorities straight.
Anyway, no gold, but about $3 in clad, another BIC lighter, another toy car, pull-tabs and my good friend Morris and his family drove over from Ocala. He wanted to try out his new Beachhunter ID in the ocean. Unfortunately the surf was too rough even for him (me, too).
Who has recovered all the gold? It certainly wasn't me!!!

Hi David,
OK, I'll bite. What is the reference to Ina's lighter? It's the 2nd reference to it that I've read.
You're right on about the sanding in. The red coquina sand that is hitting Daytona has flat ruined just about any beach driving.

If you are a regular reader of the posts here you will see a poster named Finn55Cats. Real name: Ina. And GraveDiggerMax likes to bust her chops for hunting in the dry sand and not the wet and finding lighters and clad.

She will probably have the last laugh when she produces a 3 carat $13,000 diamond solitaire out of the dry sand one day.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the info. I'm fairly new to the hobby & this forum. From now on, I'll save every lighter I find & then send them to GraveDiggerMax. Somehow I know what he will do with them. ;-)

Hello,

Glad you have priorities straight!

Are you sure you are not at NMB, SC? That is the typical "nut" here!

I hope the beach is in a little better "shape" by the 16th of this month. I will be down the week of the 16th for "Biketoberfest" and hope to spend early mornings on the beach (while the "better half" sleeps-in). Just checked the tide chart and it appears there will be morning "-" low tides that week.

And Mike's right - I am going to get the NITRO ring in my scoop some day. I do hunt wet sand with the coil of my Quattro and dry sand, playgrounds too. Welcome!!
