Original Surfmaster pi mod

New member
Hi all. Has anyone experience with a diyon the pulse width
Mod championed by Mr Bill. I'm confident apart from finding
A different transistor in the original. I still presume it's a straight
Swap. Any experience?

Link is to the mod information. The text has been truncated in the old post. I think what followed the 15 was delay is down to 15 micro seconds and that you take a small square of aluminum foil and adjust one pot until you have best response. I don't have the information on which pot. Maybe some one will fill in the missing details.

I have not yet picked up the right model detector to do this mod to, so I have no personal experience with it.

Ok. So I went ahead and changed the resistor and the transistor.....
All is good. The detector is def more sensitive to small gold.
I tuned it to a VERY thin and small child's 9ct ring.
The ring measures14mm across, 6mm at it thickest and just over 1mm on the band.
I've tuned it to the best sensitivity and giving around 3" more depth.
All air tested but feel this is a fantastic mod.
Easy to do, easy to source parts.

Many thanks to Mr Bill for freely offering the info.
