Original Stingray on Land?

I have just gotten a used Original Stingray. I have only used it on the beach and in the water. How will it do land hunting? What can I expect? I have a whites classic 3 and am wondering if the Stingray will outperform it? Thanks, Jim P

Should work fine Jim. Adjust Disc accordingly and you should get good performance. David @ Dixie

I used my original stingray in NM and AZ for land hunting. You can hunt the desert sands with it or walk up the shallow creeks and nugget shoot with it without worrying about dropping the detector. It is more sensitive to small conductive targets like jewelry and small gold nuggets than the classic III, probably because of its higher frequency. Like all the Tesoro's of the early 90's designs, it is a little quieter in iron and trashy sites than the later Umax series. Great discrimination. One drawback is the ground balance control is internal and in variable hi mineral ground, cannot be easily adjusted.
