Original Gold Bugs (Gold Bug 1)

Tell me about the original Gold Bugs (Gold Bug 1 not Gold Bug 2). Are they still viable detectors? Many people still using them? Are there many of them available on the second-hand market?
 
I still use one, it works good in heavy mineralization for 1 grain and up nuggets, good for micro jewelry too.
They sell for around $250.
