Original DFX Discontinued?

 Does anyone know if the original DFX has been discontinued? I noticed it is not in the new catalog. The DFX 300 is the only one pictured.

Yes it is but most dealers will work with you on coil selection. The 12" coil is not a good choice for most users IMHO. (Bad call White's)

I think Whites succumbed to the 'depth' mentality when they started to offer the 12 inch coil as the stock coil on the DFX. They may have done better if they packaged up the 9.5 and 5.3 coils and made a 'Pro' package.

The only time I use the 12 inch coil is beach hunting when targets are sanded in or sparse...and I still think I get better results with the 9.5 anyway.

Agree with the general consensus here, the Super 12 is not a general use coil (and at least 3 others would be in que ahead of it for "most usable"). "Use the Force" (in buying local) and make up your own package. That 12 does have a place but you need to have situations where there is no EMI, low ground mineralization, and low trash. (I don't see that trifecta much because that means rural/low use land around here....and I do have the 12....but would never have it at the exclusion of the say a D2, 950, or 5.3/6x10.)

Having said all that....a 300 package, gives you it cheap.

Hi guys,

I moved from an XLT to a DFX and within the first few minutes of use, I thought there was something wrong. It just did not feel the detector was doing a good job and it was very difficult to pinpoint compared to the DFX. Time for a new coil. I am interested in the butterfly 8x6. Does anyone feel this is the best all around coil for the DFX?

Steve

Depends on what you are hunting for and where. The best coil I used on the DFX was the EX10DD but that was before the White's D2 coil which operates about the same. In heavier trash the 6X8 is a great coil.

I agree. White's should have offered the DFX/MXT 300 with the 6x10 coil as the package. I sold my 12" and most people I know done the same or at least replaced it.
