Ordered the Garrett Pro Pointer

somecomic

New member
two month's into this awesome hobby and I had been trying to pin point using a BH Pin Pointer. It was practically useless. Just ordered the Pro Pointer and can not wait to hunt with it!

I had been detecting for years without one. I recently bought the Garret Pro Pointer and have been using it for a few months now. I would not be without it now. I cannot believe that I got along without one for so long.
It cuts your digging time in half (at least). Once a target is spotted by my detector, I immediately touch the ground surface with the pointer. Many times you may not have to dig very deep at all. It begins to vibrate and sound off when you are within 3 inches or so of the target ( a coin, for example). But remember, it works in "all metal" mode, so it is possible to also pick up signals from nearby junk targets. If you practice a bit with it you will get the hang of it within a few minutes. And always recheck the hole after you retrieve your target. Frequently there will be more than one target in the same hole.

Good Luck with it.....

A good pin pointer does come in handy. I went for years without..and once I bought a fairly good one..WOW .I wondered how I got along without it all those years..I have the Garrett Model now and am completely happy with it..

As far as the Bounty Hunter pointer... They aren't terrible for sure.. Not as deep as the Garrett. But do work most times sufficiently enough if that is what you can afford, or have...

The Garrett PPer has been the standard bread 'n butter PPer for years which has also served me well in the past.
But after a year of heavy use mine started to false more and more until just by looking at it, it falsed.
It finally fizzled out becoming useless. Don't think i'll ever buy another Garrett PPer again unless they redesign and update it.

These days there are newer and better ones out there IMO.
