Ordered Sovereign GT

Ordered Sovereign GT from Dixie (MS). I also have an Explorer. I have read the review on the Sovereign but would like to hear from users. How will the weight and balance compare to the Explorer. I am getting old (70) and the Explorer seems heavy. Do most of you use the meter or not? I can't seem to get my bifocals focused on the screen of the Explorer, will the meter be easier? I'm pretty good with just sounds on the Explorer, would it be much different with the Sovereign? Thanks

Weght is about the same but the balance is superior on the GT. The meter is easy to read and the tones are easier to pick up on than the Explorer's language although I like to use both depending on site conditions. Overall I'd rate the GT as the BEST Sovereign yet and that's saying something. It's more sensitive to small brass and gold and the iron mask is top notch.

Hi John:
I wouldn't hunt without the meter,... well maybe I would if you forced me to.
The meter acts as my pitch memory (high and low tones), especially when the pitch of trash and treasure targets are a close call. It's easy to forget what the pitch of an aluminum bottle cap and a silver ring sound like, but the first reads 176 and the second reads 180 on my 180 meter. Makes it much easier to decide whether to dig or not.
I am 71 and I hunt with my Sovereign Elite, 2 to 3 hours on the beach almost every day. Great exercise and great good fun too.

Good Luck and Good Hunting with your new GT
