Ordered New AT Pro After Lots Of Research

I just ordered a new AT Pro & the Pro pin-pointer to upgrade my old Whites pin-pointer and it all should be in Friday. I really like the features of the AT Pro and wanted a lighter water proof detector. The two Whites detectors I use (XL Pro & MXT) are not water proof and weigh quite a bit more than the AT Pro. My only experience with a Garrett was my sons Ace 250 when he had it I liked the size of the Ace 250 detector and it worked well but I wanted the higher end features in a smaller detector with all of the pro type options I have in both my higher end Whites detectors such as the upgraded ground balancing being the big one over the Ace 250 & 350 models. All the other Pro features are a added plus for the size and weight of this detector, it looks to be a win win situation. I plan on running the AT Pro through the paces on vacation both in land and on the beach. I will report back on my finds and experience with the AT Pro in a few weeks.

Best Regards to all,
Bill G

You won't be disappointed! I got the ATP and although, out of the box of the "improved" model, mine had the headset key reversed and had to return it, this machine gets silver like no other!

Water proof for me means if it falls on its side at the water line at the beach I want it to be water proof enough to handle that or if I get caut in the rain while hunting. I don't plan on taking it down to the control housing under water. Garrett says 10ft that may or may not be the case for some users. There are certain O ring care such as silicone grease that needs to be maintained on these detectors and as with anything it could fail if pushed to the limit. I think it will be good enough for my needs.

Take Care,

Not sure what your talking about here. The AT Pro is advertised to be used in 10ft or less of water max to maintain a leak free unit plus proper O ring maintenance. It is not advertised to compete with a under water machine such as the MK 11. I feel if the O ring maintenance is kept up as stated above when you change the battery's, headphones or coil option were O ring seals are used, I believe it will do just fine if it gets whet or splashed. I am not talking about what you do with your MK 11 detector again Garret says only 10ft max so if you took yours deeper than that it is possible that may be why it leaked and were your O rings in proper condition. I don't know why your AT Pro leaked I am just taking a wild guess here.

Take Care,

I have an AT, along with a slew of other machines. The AT is by far my favorite. It is advertised as waterproof to 10'. So far it looks like you have a 50/50 chance of not getting a leaker. I sent mine in for the upgrades, but have never put it in the water. (I'm afraid I may have one of the leakers) If you do end up with a leaker, Garrett will take care of you, no questions asked. I also have an ace 250 and 350 with lots of specialty coils. I purchased the specialty coils trying to get more depth out of the Ace series. The AT runs circles around the aces, even with the 10x14 coil on the 350, especially in depth. One thing that I can say is that the AT is a little bigger learning curve than the Ace. In standard mode, it is easy to understand though.

Thank you for the informative input. I don't plan on doing to much hunting where the detector will be getting wet other than the mist from the shore line detecting the beach every now and then, most of my hunting is in land.

Take Care & Thanks

I have done some complaining about the AT Pro. I have 6 machines and it is my favorite. It is deeper than my other really good coin machine (Omega). It can find and identify coins deeper than it can pinpoint them. That's no big deal. I find it difficult to GB but you can't knock success; the best is the best.
