hello i just wanted too say i finally ordered my CZ3-d yesterday and a 5 inch coil and the sun-ray fz12 coil and a set of gray ghost originals head phones I'm a fisher fan and do own the fisher id excel and love it. any comments on what the difference between the two detectors are and what i can expect as far as performance compared to what I've been using. thank you

You'll love this machine.Dig all high tones and iffy signals at first like the book says.Run high sensitivity. This machine will go deep.
Old sites, enhanced mode otherwise it seems to be a typical CZ which all go deep, but it is the high tone is where this machine delivers its performance.Learn the repeatable high tone and you will have great sucess.Hope this helps.Old sites = Enhanced mode Modern sites = Salt mode...

thank you silverseeker2 for some much needed advice.

I have to disagree with running high sens unless you're using a 5" coil. With the 8 and 10.5 coils, you'll get max depth at sens of 4.5 to 5. Above that you'll get more iron falsing.

I bought my 3D shortly after it came out and collected lots of posts. Olde Tymer put them on his website. These will help you use your 3D better.

Run that sensitivity high and train your ear, as me and my buddy hunt with high sensitivity and pull out those mid to late 1800's coins that are still laying in the wooded areas.Agreed that running a high sensitivity can cause more iron falsing but run that sensitivity as high as you can tolerate it!!!You'll surprise yourself here and there. So what if there's not alot of iron around, who cares if it falses a wee bit.Learn that high tone and its repeatability and the rewards are great...

Its not the 3d that gives you trouble with high sen,its your ground. The cz3d will hunt deeper if the sen is wide open ,even deeper than set on 4 or 5,its where you live is the problem. Here in Louisiana i can run the sen on 10,but take my detector to ky and you can only run the sen on 4 or 5.Same problem with the c$ i can run the coin$ on -1 th and wide open sen, will seek deeper than the troublesome f75.

Sens. or between 4 and 5 is recommended as you will get depth and a quiet unit..Make sure you learn the bobbing method of ground balance as its of upmost importance in depth and stability. Biggest difference of course CZ is a much deeper unit so buy a longer digger..
