Reading all the web stuff and finally getting out on the 18th with my Spectrum Eagle to the park again! Have had this since I bought it used in 2000. Finally getting some time to get back in the hobby. Researched 5 major detector brands and narrowed it down to 5 machines 1 from each :drinking: manufacturer. MXT, CZ3D, Cortes, Xterra50 or the Garrett 1350 or 2500. Visited a local dealer and ruled out the Garrett due to the weight - its heavy I already have a tank to swing with the XLT. The MXT was a real good choice with different frequency and smaller size and more acceptable weight plus the foward switch position for auto pull tab discrimination and analog knob adjustments which I liked. Still unsure about the MXT due to the things I read about the noiseiness of it and the fact that their was only 1 notch discrimination selection, plus I have only had white's so I really wanted to try another brand. To be honest price never entered into the equation since I had enough funds to go with any on the current market. I really liked the fisher CZ3d read good things about it but it was an all analog machine, and since I have had the whites I really like the target ID and digital display although I would probably prefer analog adjustments, which is why I liked the cortes. Digital display and analog adjustment nice size and weight, it really had a lot going for it, including a lifetime warranty. Then the xterra 50 which I liked as well for the weight, size etc. I guess when it all boiled down to it I chose the xterra 50 due to the 4 tone id similiar to the fisher, the greater depth when compared to the cortes and the type of batteries used. I also liked the reports on the xterra I had read and the fact it had VFLEX technology and had just recently been marketed, of course the $80 less price tag was a benefit also. I would have bought it locally as my local dealer would match any internet pricing but I would have had to pay $50 more in state tax(yuk). I like getting quality for the best price, it just does'nt make sense to me to buy the same thing locally for more than I can get it for off the internet within 3 days. So the Xterra 50 is on its way along with my $450 value package and a free V2 $140. pinpointer. The internet is great! It is the only way to shop I should have my unit by next Thursday it ships Monday. Works great since I work Sat thru Tuesday. :)

I have heard good things about minelabs so now I will find out. No, I really didn't need a new detector but I wanted a lighter one. I only coinshoot mostly in newer parks and I do dig little trash so I will get out and get my fat butt swinging and maybe I can lose some weight as well.

HH to all :)
