Ordered an AT Pro!:detecting:

Colo_Lucas

New member
Just ordered an AT PRO and it should be here tomorrow...I cant wait to give it a try, but i have to work all weekend. Talk about poor timing :rage:...anyway, i've been looking around here for a bit and like the fact that the AT PRO has it's on section. Anyway, hope to be able to post up some good finds in the near future.

Just a suggestion here Colo_Lucas from one new user to another, when putting the AT Pro together, is to add some lubricant to both rubber plug-in O rings to help get them seated in properly. I had a hard time with my Head Set plug-in seating properly until I used some Die Electric grease, that really helped as they are a tight fit.

Just a Heads Up on that one Colo_Lucas.:)

Thanks for the heads up, I probably have some in the tool box so i'll put it to use.

Youre Gonna Love the AT PRO,But be patient with it,You need the time to get to know the machine,Once you have learned the AT Pro,Try out the Pro Mode.........AMAZING
Why waste money on an E-trac Or other expensive machines,Sure they might have some extra features,But The AT PRO is the best Mid Budget Machine.
Once Again The AT PRO needs alot of attention to learn,Dont give up on it...

Yep! The last hunt I was out with a guy using an Etrac and I was using my AT-Pro, we were both digging 8"+ silver dime targets. So though I'd love an Etrac, I can't afford it. But I'm perfectly happy with my AT-Pro and I'm sure IF and WHEN I get over to England to hunt; that my AT-Pro will find targets fine there.

I always hunt in Pro mode, zero Discrim, Iron audio off. You hear low iron tones, mid tones and high tones. I go low and slow listening for those good solid tones. Getting used to Pro mode takes awhile and it'll take you a few hours to figure out how iron nails and their halo's can trick you into thinking it's a high tone. Basically if it sounds good from 2-3 directions I dig it. I still sometimes get iron, but I don't miss silver that way.

Hi Colo_Lucas

I don't know about anyone else, but when I come across a nail I usually get a slightly "longer" read and tone from the coil when I do the sweep over it from different directions (as suggested here on the forum). The machine (in most cases) will also give a different VDI and tone when I do this.

Coins and Bottle caps have a shorter and more abrupt sound to them when the coil goes over them, but it is consistent in size from either direction when the coil picks it up. This is where it is important to listen to the sound the machine gives off when doing the 90 degree sweep.

My settings for the above method is: Pro Mode/Zero Discrimination/No Iron Audio as that's all I run in at his time being a new AT Pro user myself.

These are just guidelines, but I hope this is enough to get you started.:)
