Received my XS(fmr Garrett 1250)this Thur. Very active trashy park on Fri., found new pennies, dime and a bracelet with iron mask set at -10. Sat. old farm site(1880's)secluded with fresh mown grass for about 5 hrs. lots of targets but could not pinpoint jack even with my x-1, what the h*** happened!!! I searched same as the park(-10) and then went to factory settings to no avail. Was I ever disappointed! I will be able to go back but when(the grass will never be like today). I'm NEWBIE to XS Thanks, Mike

Are you pinpointing by using the front of the coil not the center? Are you using the pinpointing mode? Are you going slow? Are you digging the "repeatable" signals? If you are digging the false or iffy signals you will definitely not find much. If the answer to any of these questions is NO then explain and someone will help or email me and I will be glad to help!

Jim, You hit the nail on the head. First of all,I WAS slow but I didn't pay attention to what I was hearing! THOUGHT I had read that PinPoint was not that reliable so I didn't use it(duh). After previous day hunting(new coins),first time out, I got cocky and tried to dig the iffy signals and let the obvious go(double duh). pinpointing? had no idea what I was doing. Needlessly to say,I studied the manuals VERY carefully this morning and think?I found where I went off track. At least will get another shot at it with more time under my belt!! Thank, Mike

Jim, are you saying that you are not digging the iffy targets, only those that give a loud sound ?
