Been putting this off but i really think that i have a problem with the machine. Now it could very well be me and if so i will learn how to use it. If i know it is operator problems i can overcome them. Just when not knowing for sure makes it harder to to do.

Here are some of the things that the machune is doing and not doing.

Square tabs read as low foil or pulltab, never square.
Nickle at 7" bounces between nickle and iron then i turn 90degres and it reads iron only.
Air test shows and reads as should and gets good readings on dimes up to 9" quarters and pennies also.
Rusted nail also high tones most of the time.

Once i bury the coins things change fast. I will get as many iron tones most of the time as i do high coin. Have used diffrent depths. Seems that one way i get mostly high tones but when i turn 90degres i get 90%+ IRON TONES.
Buried rusty nail hits as many high tons as iron tones. Just like the coins.

I have tried to work around some of this buy digging the targets that produce at least 75% high coin and i have quiet a collection of nails to prove it.
Have tried to disc out the iron and will do so a little on notch one. But ihave run it all the way to 6 and seems the higher i go the more high tone signal i get from iron. At 6 you cannot get it to low tone iron in the ground.

Another thing is that it seems like every time i turn the machine on it does somthing different.

Now as far as depth goes i would never complain. I have dug iron up to 12" so i know that it is capable of some depth.

Have GB it several times both push button and bobbing with the same results. Right at 5.5 to 6 GB number.

Been around the world wit sens. and volume.

Your thoughts will be appericated.
Thanks
Dwight

Things are tough if there is no one you can compare notes with that has or knows CZs. If you could borrow another unit to see how they compare or have them use yours it might resolve easily. If the unit always is off the same you can learn to compensate like having a rifle that always hits a foot low and a little high, but if it is all over the map it is just worthless. You said it does something different every time you turn it on- like what?
Sending it to Fisher or some other place to be checked our and maybe adjusted or repaired will provide confidence and you can have faith in the machine at least. I have 10 and some were bought new and some used. I always felt insecure they worked right until I sent one in and saw it was okay. I was freed up to improve my hunting skills without second guessing my equipment.
I hope this helps, HH!

Hi Dwight, Are you hunting in salt mode? Do you have the manual? You can down lode it from Fisher Web. Check both modes see if anything is the same. Flintstone

Thanks for the replies guys.
As far as it being a different machine every time i turn it on. After testing it and using it yesterday afternoon most of the evening i was really discouraged. Did not pick it up until about an hour ago and went to my test garden again. Same place same settings and it acted like i think it should. Got readings on nickles and other coins with the high tones with occasional low iron tone. The buried rusty nail hit low iron 95% of the time.
Still reading the square tabs as low foil or round tab. I have had other times that it acted the way i expected it to run but sometimes it just goes the opposite way. Beats me. My faith factor is low at this time.

I have hunted and tested in both modes an can tell little or no difference. Most likely lack of experience and not being able to tell the real difference.
I do have the manual and have read it along with Toms Fisher Intelligence pamphlet more than once.

Not sure how many hours i have logged it the last nine days with the machine but i went through my 4th set of batteries yesterday and i use headphones most of the time.

I am also currently having some conservation via email with Nasa Tom. Will See what that brings.

As i mentioned in a earlier post i am new to the game but once i make up my mind to do or learn something i am a bulldog. I just need to know if the machine is working as it should. Being doubtful does not help when you think that you are wasting time.
Thanks again guys
Dwight
