hi there,i would like to buy either a new vaquero or troy x3 for hunting mostly around old homesteads, coins, relics,. i mainly would like one with good tone, good disc.,good depth, very stable,i have a g.s.2,was never satistfied with it,might have been to much of a change from the sounds of my old whites 5000d.i still would try another tosoro model.would love to hear some thoughts on what model might be best.thanks, dog

I don't think you can go wrong with the Tesoro. First off they have a lifetime warranty if you are the original purcharser (you mentioned a new Vacquero) and even if not new they stand behind their machines even if not the original owner. Also the Vacquero does have manual ground balance the Troy x3 does not. Both are light machines so no advantage to either. Both use one 9 volt battery no advantage there. The Troy maybe a little better on battery life than the Vacquero. Another consideration is that I am not sure how long Fisher has to honor and stock parts for the Troy detectors whereas Tesoro has and will continue to have the parts if there is ever a problem with their machines. So in my opinion I say the Vacquero. This is definitely not bashing the Troy detectors as they are a fine machine. Just pointing out advantages to the Tesoro purchase. As that was what your question seemed to ask.
