I am seriously thinking of selling my 2 Ace 250 Garretts and getting me an Xterra 50. Assuming even steven in cost is this a wise decision? Will I retret it> I mostly do land coin and jewelry hunts. . Thoughts?

Should maybe keep one of the aces as a back unit. At least you know what it,ll do. I,ve used one since last fall and it,s been good to me.I run two other machines and keep going back to the 250. Just an opinion!

Don't do it!! Keep your Garrett's I,ve had Minelabs x -terra 50,and the musky, and i find them to be overpriced Junk.. just my opinion

I dont know what an Xterra is other than Mitusbishi made it .I got the Bounty Hunter Lone Star and an Ace 250. the Ace over the Bounty Hunter any day

I have the X-Terra 30 and the Ace and like both of them. Personally, if you can hang onto at least 1 of the Aces. what I like about the X-Terra over the Ace, is that the Audio system is a lot easier on the ear, only the Explorer has a more pleasant sound to it than any other detector on the market. the large numbers make it very easy to work with as well. You do more discriminating off the meter on the X-Terra's than the Ace buy watching how the numbers jump around. What I don't like about the X-Terra, is it's pinpoint mode. You can apply a standard concentric pinpoint method to it by pinpointing off the 12 o'clock position of the inner coil, but it only works in ideal situations. I've found it best to pinpoint with it by ignoring the pinpoint feature and watching the ground closely as to when it sounds off. The X-Terra 70 offers a few more pinpoint features not available than the 50 and 30, namely, pinpointing in prospecting mode, which is supposed to be more accurate; and it also maintains target ID as well while in pinpoint mode. Also has 28 notches over the 50's 18 notches.
The Ace has a vastly superior pinpoint feature in which is good for figuring out coins from targets that are not coins. I haven't come across a detector that is equal to it for that, and that includes the GTI's. Personally, I consider them to be an inferior detector to the Ace for non US coins.

...this hobby sucks you in. We all buy a machine and say to ourselves, "if I get the ____, maybe I will find a few more deeper coins." Then we buy the new machine, and start seeing things on the forums found with other detectors. It is a progressive disease that only gets worse. After buying the top of the line White's DFX, all I see are posts from Minelab Explorer users who were former DFX users who claim to be getting more depth. I am not falling for it this time!

Keep in mind, even the best metal detector cannot find coins that are not there! The Ace is a nice machine that I enjoy using. It has a lot of features only found on pricier machines. It's depth is second to none. The pinpointing is right on the money (no pun intended). Unless you are having problems with heavy mineralization in your area, I do not think the Minelab is going to give you better results. The Quattro and the Explorer are a whole different story. Save your money up and buy a different class machine, such as the aforementioned, and keep the ACE as a second unit for a turn and go hunt.

I have both the X-terra 70 and the ACE 250. I like the 70 alot. It will get deep. I still grab the 250 most of the time. I think the ACE is the best Machine on the market in the price range. HANDS DOWN!! The ACE performs way above its price range. I don't think I would sell both. I have recommended the ACE 250 to several folks looking to get into the hobby. The X-Terra series are great machines also. I have went back over areas with the 70 and found new targets. But that can happen with any detector. Did I help confuse you more? Keep an ACE in the hole!!
