Opinions on the Sun Ray YF-1 with ACE 250?

Hello all. New to the forum here, but been trolling for awhile as a guest.

I got an Ace 250 for my birthday back in May and have taken it out a few times. I'm really enjoying this new hobby. I also got an Automax V4 pinpointer with the Ace 250, but I must say I don't like that particular pinpointer much. It is too big to carry on your belt and it has to be basically touching the metal object to detect it.

So, now I've been looking at other pinpointers including the Vibraprobe, Wizard Vib-Probe II, Sherlock, Merlin, White's Bullseye II, BH/Teknetics Probe, the Tesoro Treasure Mate, and the Sun Ray YF-1. I was leaning towards the handheld probes, until recently. Now I am thinking I might just go ahead and get the Sun Ray for the Ace 250. How many other people use the Sun Ray probe with their Ace 250 and do you like it? How does it compare to other pinpointers you've tried? Let me know. Thanks!!

I used to build and sell pinpointers. But the Sunray is much better. That was hard for me to say. Next best probe with sound is probably the Sherlock. But I have read nothing but good things about the Vibraprobe.

What do you mean nothing good about the vibraprobe.:argue: The price was right when I bought my Ace. It was cheaper then anything else I could have bought. It works. It has both sound and vibrates. It can detect up to an inch. When the end breaks off, it goes right back on with a little JB weld and works fine. I had it out in the rain today and it still works. I hope when the ACE dries out the pp will work again.
Khouse you have got to quit being so negative.

I have a sun ray on my minelab explore 11 but since then bought a uniprobe headset plugs into the detector and the pinpointer in the back pocket interchanges with all my machines currently on my troy x5 price is on the high side I notice its not on your list. Dan:canadaflag:

1)I have a YF-1 on my 1350. 2) My girlfriend really likes my YF-1. 3) the green anodized upper pole that the probe attaches to, is the same size as the black pole on the ACE. 4) The girlfriend realized this. 5) My 1350 now sports a black pole and no pinpointer if I don't watch out. She loves it on her ACE. Good depth and easy to use BUT you must remember to switch back from "pinpointer" to "coil" BEFORE checking half of a soccer field, wondering why you haven't been hearing a peep out of the detetor. Only an inch?? The Sun Ray will hit five inches. I use it to detect around metal playground equipment to get those coins out of reach of conventional coils. Also along metal fences.
