I will tell you it is a good detector. I used to use one a good deal, especially for hunting black sand beaches on local rivers.
While primarily designed as a nugget hunting detector with added use since it has a discriminate mode, the Lobo was a very good performer. I have a friend who's a prospector and detector dealer and he owns one, and another friend who bought one about the time they were new and he's still got it. I had the opportunity to use it a few months back and, as I told him, the only thing lacking compared with today's Lobo SuperTRAQ is that it has limited coil options.
Still, with the stock 5x10 and little 3x5 it can do 'OK' for coin and jewelery hunting as well as some relics and nuggets.
The Lobo ST is "improved" in that it does have the auto-tracking circuity so that eliminates the need for the operator to initially set and then maintain a 'proper' GB. Personally, I generally prefer a manual GB to an auto-tracking circuit, and this applies to your Lobo. Actually, you're Lobo has one feature the LST doesn't and that is the fact that the GB setting YOU get to make is tied in with BOTH MODE. The SuperTRAQ's auto-tracking GB is only functional in the All Metal mode and the Disc. mode's GB is internally preset. Therefore, you actually have the advantage when operating in the motion discriminate mode.
If you didn't get the smaller coil I encourage you to try and hunt one down, which might not be too easy. For versatility, however, it's almost a 'must have' as with any other detector, in my opinion.
