Opinions on the newer CZ-3D?

Greetings All..

I am interested in the opinions of some of you seasoned CZ-3D users on the newer issue CZ-3D machines. I have been considering buying one of these but have been somewhat put off by the seeming raging debate over whether these newer First Texas produced products perform as well as those previously produced by the "original" Fisher.

I like the idea of buying a brand new, unused machine but find myself hesitating to pull the trigger because of all the conflicting reports as to whether the new machines are really up to the performance standards that the CZ line has become famous for (I am presently using a CZ-70 Pro in SW Florida). I think input and opinions from some of the hobby's most seasoned and experienced users would help guide me. So.... share your thoughts.... Are the new machines up to the task and worthy of the investment? Your thoughts are appreciated in advance.

Steve

If Fisher dealers took their CZ3D's made by the new Fisher out of the box and tested them and any Fisher dealer should know their capabilities thus wouldn't be a problem.
I myself have tried one and it was right on right out of the box and know a PC friend that had the same experience. We all know detectors are not all the same and one may be an inch deeper or shallower(hot or cold) and seems like rumors really take off especially when Fisher had some problems with the new F series. Your call my friend and good luck in your decision..To be further helpful I believe Nasa Tom promised to help time permitting but of course no sense being negative lest the rumors grow...and lets not look for the horse before he runs away as the one you buy may indeed be right on.

I agree, Dan. I think that dealers could go a long way in putting the pressure on the mfgs. to produce products that show consistent performance across any particular line. When producing a high end product, performance specs should be very narrow and very consistent from one machine to another; with rare exception, rather than becoming a "crap shoot" for the consumer.

I have a "new" one. Perfect right out of the box. Meets Dankowski's calibration standards. Best machine I've used and I've bought/used a bunch, just ask my wife.

That's funny. Thanks for sharing your experience. Where can I find Dankowski's calibration standards and testing procedure? I tried an old bookmark but it seems to be a dead link now.

Some dealers may still have NOS older machines in stock or as an in-store demo. You may want to call around if you are concerned and see what people have. Most smaller dealers will test and check the machine before they send it out. Every CZ I have owned has been a used unit though, and I've had four or five. The CZ 70 was the only one that I ever had to send back to have something fixed. The analog units are like the Energizer bunny... keep going ang going. I still have my 3D as a backup, but I'm running an Explorer now.

I just got mine in March, right out of the box. works great. wouldnt change a thing.
look me up on Tnet and review my finds for the summer.
once you do that im sure youll be calling fisher soon after
