opinions on salt water beach hunting with the vaquero

i use a cibola,,with a 12 x 10 d.d. and its excellent,,dunno about the concentric coils though,,,i dont think they work good,,,comcat:ukflag:

Hey there amc, See u have a 10x12 coil for the V is it worth having? Got a V on the way and see that coil for sale on another site for $85??

amcjavelin,
Should do well as long as you don't get the detector wet.

With a Cibola I have used the standard coil and 12 x 10 at the beach, with the Tejon, standard, 12 x 10 and 3.6 x 18 coils at the beach. I like larger coils at the beach for area coverage unless the sand is bad black ugly and conductive and then going with a smaller coil helps deal with it.

I tend to grab the SandShark when the sand gets real ugly (or I am going into the water).

I haven't been near as far up the coast as you are, I've been to a number of spots south of New Jersey, so can't speak about what your sand is like.

If you are dealing with a lot of big rocks (natural or man placed erosion protection) that can trap good targets, may want a small coil like the 5.75 inch to work between the rocks.

Try it and let us know what you find out.

well i was going to sell mine but i come across some good leads lately and i guess try it a little while longer, anctious to try at the salt water beaches other then that i use it to field hunt and that's about it, all metal mode can get little over 2 feet on a mason jar lid

Good luck on those mason jar lids in the dry...

Black sand/mineralization erratic operation in saltwater will be the downfall.

Of course a small splash of the saltwater itself could eat the machine in a heartbeat.

Well, just one quick fizzle...

Not worth it to me.

All the best info shows the best finds are waist deep at low tide...

Good luck !
