Opinions on Raptor

I watched a couple videos where a guy was using a Raptor digger. Turns out these are not real plentiful. It may be the price not sure. I decided to just bite the bullet and buy one at $72.00 shipped.

Did I waste my money. Never liked the standard Lesche diggers.

They make a neater plug for sure. Not as good as the Leshe in roots or rocks or hard dirt. Works best in softer soils. I won't be getting rid of mine any time soon; I prefer to use mine in parks and residential yards where I'm trying to be as neat as possible. YMMV.

I had 2 of them as one I used and the other one was traded in by a guy that didn't like it. I resold both of them as they didn't work in our soil as they were very hard to dig with unless the ground was worked up or sandy soil or the ground was wet. 2 others in this area had them too and after one day out the sold them and went back to the Lesche diggers. As you see some do like them and it depends on your soil I am sure as our problem was pushing the digger into the ground.

I wanted one, but saw the $$ so I decided to buy a Sampson mini, I really like it, but would also like a raptor to try out.

I just bought my second one. Where I hunt you can dig those plugs extremely fast and clean. I prefer not to carry a long handled shovel in parks to not bring anymore attention to my self than I already do metal detecting. Seems like when people see a full size shovel they get all nervous. This raptor kicks butt..

I've thrown a little dirt with mine, but mostly it just gets me to my digging spots... oops, wrong Raptor :twodetecting:

Got my Raptor today and it will not replace my Miners Pick but it is great. Used it to find a 1906 V Nickle. I also hunted an old church where I positively can not leave a trace and I was very satisfied.
