Opinions on MX.7. For all around metal detecting? Thanks.

Yes, I feel the MX-7 makes a very good 'all around' or 'general purpose' detector. The standard 950 Concentric coil is 'OK' for more open areas without a lot of nearby masking trash such as a sports field or a beach. I keep that coil and the 7" DD open-frame coil on spare rods in my Accessory Coil Tote for open areas and the 7" DD for working in water. My standard all-around search coil is the 'Six Shooter' which is a Concentric coil that measures 6½" in diameter. It works well for just about any applications, and the MX-7 is light weight and well balanced with ample functional controls for all general purpose search needs.

VID is short for Video

VDI stands for Visual Discrimination Indication which will give a numeric VDI Number or an object Name or Suggestion in the TID (Target ID) display.

You can see the reference in the MX-7 Owner Manual, on Page 17.
