Opinions needed for which MD line to carry.

A friend has asked me to research which line of metal detectors he should carry in his new shop. The shop will be in a rural area of California with a lot of tourist traffic and local traffic. The area offers coin, relic and gold prospecting. My preference would be Whites, but I have had hesitation from them because of two other dealers in the area 30 miles away. So I must look elsewhere and hope to get a Whites line later in my friends shop. So here are the other choices he could carry:
1. Fisher
2. Garrett
3. Tesoro
4. Minelab
5. Bounty Hunter

Hello John.....as a multi-line dealer....and considering the description of your friend's shop, traffic, and hunting venues, I would strongly suggest Tesoro, Garrett, and Minelab. Which machines from which line will also be critical.

Have no axe to grind with Fisher. I don't carry it by choice.....have had very little luck with their product over the years. Since I don't carry it, I have no experience with the latest product, thus I don't feel qualified to recommend it. It is my understanding that the later models of Fusher are actually quite good, with a lot of loyal users, but as I said....no experience.....no recommendation.

We used to carry Fisher. Unfortunately they are not that popular a machine. There newer machines are really good.

If White's will let you carry it(due to the distance), I would, only because it is the most well known brand.

And the only brand that won't let you advertise there products. You have to take that into consideration.

a brand that is lightweight, easy to use and will get depth in your type soils. Some top brand makes & top of the line detectors just don't work in every area.

You could always check local clubs and check with the members to see who uses what. That would be a good indicator of what to sell locally.

If your buddy plans on taking in Trade-ins, just a thought. I wouldn't want to sell a new detector that I wouldn't be willing to accept back in on trade.

Just my opinion but if you dont have you dont have anything...And I dont understand why anyone would want to carry a brand they couldnt advertise...I never have understood Whites policy...How many sales have they lost because people cant compare prices...I dont consider a 500.00 detector a impulse buy so I want to do my homework before I buy...JMHO
