OK, The SE has been out for a while. I'm going to purchase an Explorer and would like opinions on the SE verses the II. Is the SE actually faster? I have heard that it is noisy. I have used the II but don't have access to an SE. Thanks, Tony
Jeez Tony, give em some time...it's been slow & not much happening on the forum...personally I started out with the SE so can't comment on the ll....Noisy??? Only if you're under or over power lines or metal objects in the ground...sometimes near communications transmission... I think if you can afford it the SE might be the better choice, supposed to be easier to go through menu options, faster startup, pinpoint. Etc...just give the guys a few days to get some input back to you...TT
the SE is faster than my Explorer XS and a bit faster than the Explorer 2. The SE is more stable than both of these machines also but it does have issues when running too much Gain and Sensitivity in Trashy Areas and around Electrical Interference. What Explorer doesn't have these issues from time to time??? So, I would have to say if you can afford the SE, go for it but if you want to save a few bucks, get either the XS or the 2 because you will still find most finds the SE will find with either machine. The only down side to getting the XS or the 2 now is that there isn't a Warranty on them and that is a big thing to have if you have problems down the road with your next purchase. So it's totally up to you Tony. Good Luck with your decision and HH.
You sure are going to have a lot to post on within the next couple of months and I will be here reading every bit of it. Wait until you really get to know the Explorer SE and you won't believe the depth it will get on Quarters, Halves, and if your lucky enough, Silver Dollar. I have dug Quarters 12"+ with the Explorer XS and have found Pennies in the 10"-11" range. Just depends on settings, ground conditions, and luck on swinging your coil over these ultra deep targets. Hope you find some nice stuff from those lots and will stay tuned for your reports between White's DFX and Explorer SE. Good Luck and HH.
Good post Architex, I have used the DFX 3yrs. I have made very good and deep finds with it and will still use it. I know there are some situations where the Explorer will do better. I ordered an Explorer SE today. Thanks to all for the advice. Tony
