I like my Deleon. But two things I wish it had was multitone and ground balance. Lately I have been looking at possibly trading for a Fisher F5. Only saw the video on one.

I've been hoping Tesoro would come out with a new TID unit. Just wondering if trading would be a wise move or continuing waiting on the Giffords to come through.

Thanks

I've had similar thoughts. I don't care so much about multi-tones, but would like a machine with GB. Have thought about trading up to the Cortes, but the ground balance there is only all metal mode. I have a pretty full selection of Umax coils so I prefer to stay compatible with that.

Well, I don't have much patience so I crossed over to a CZ5 from the Deleon, love it! But I will always have at least one tesoro. Like you I wanted tones and GB, my vaquero will always be my workhorse though.

you either hang onto the DeLe

YEP tha shur wud b nise!!!---When & if they do, you can bet your shirt it will be the "real McCoy" & work "as advertised".---C'mon Tesoro, we're chompin at the bit!

I have owned both detectors. I would not trade a Deleon for an F5. If you like tones, you might look at the White's M6. It's a great unit.

The M6 was my first choice but it is more expensive than the F5. I saw that you traded your F5 for a Deleon, so I take it the F5 wasn't for you. Monte made a good point on FT fit and finish, which is what most complaints I see are about. Since they bought Fisher, it has become a glorified Bounty Hunter as far as build quality. He also makes a valid point about the value of the Deleon/Cortez lineup if Tesoro comes out with a new TID detector. But I don't always buy that philosophy. There are those that will pay good money for older Tesoro's because they like them better than the new.

The M6 usually commands higher trade than for a Deleon. I know that I won't trade my Bandido uMax though.

Neil---I just have this "gut" feeling that"s precisely why (or one of the main reasons) it is takeing Tesoro so much time
to come out with a new detector.--Trying to work thru some of the things you mentioned and of course, overcomeing some of those "issues" is no easy task.--Also, I think some of us forget-they are a small but EXCELLENT family run operation.--They probably don't have endless bucks to spend on R & D like (some) of the larger manufactures.--When a company comes out with a new detector-if it "flies", that's GREAT---if it "tanks"--that's bad news for EVERYBODY.--I'll just say it again--when (and if) Tesoro comes out with a new detector--I'll lay you odds it'll be "a good 'un".-------Del

Tesoro has never put much into detectors with id and the extra digital crap. They build a detector that will get the job done without all the bells & whistles. You want a id detector go get you one of the whites." Look honey i can see whats in the ground before i dig it up". Target id detectors are for baby's,tones,Broad band spectrum, digital screens to scratch and break is stupid.Tesoro will not put crap in to there detectors that will make it break in a week. What is a id # doing for you,i could have the target dug by the time you are bouncing around with #'s.Do not expect a lot of crap you see on other detectors to make its way to tesoro.

calling Hightone a baby or any of us who use metered/tone ID machines is really small minded and you apparently have a lot of anger issues. you gave the same crappy type response on the minelab forum and added nothing at all to the post except to vent.

your post "look honey I can see whats in the ground" is just another bunch of angry words. the fisher f75 uses 4 AA batteries, has a always on backlight, a meter, tones, 30 plus hours of operation on one set of batteries, and can ID accurately quite deep, yeah it can tell you whats in the ground before you dig it up a lot of times. and its as light as the Tejon, which uses 8 AA batteries, a shorter battery life, no meter or tones. so yeah it can be done, a metered/tone ID machine that is lightweight/powerful and accurate.

its ok to disagree but please keep the personal bashing to yourself, no one really wants to read that crap.

Why don't you guys like the Cortes?

Back when I was really into detecting and had a closet full of different machnes, (XLT, DFX, Explorer II, Excel, CZ5 Lobo ST), I had a Cortes and thought it right up there with those other high dollar machines. I liked it alot and it worked fantastic, in fact I would put it about third on my list of "most liked" machines only behind the XLT and Explorer. The target id worked great and it was a fine machine.

Why the dislike for the Cortes?

I periodically check in with Tesoro just to find out how the target id unit is coming along. They said I'd like it.

Course I didn't get any details.

I've been waiting on this unit for over 2 years now. Every spring I'm hopeful.

I'm in the Mike Hillis camp - tones rule. I also like ground balance options, light weight, power and a balance between high tech and simplicity. I've test driven many detectors in the last year and for now, the one to beat in my book is the F70.
Lets hope Tesoro can match that one.

I have used Fishers and all the Relic and coin hunters in my area converted to Tesoro.Fisher can't even come close to Tesoro.Fisher detectors are dealing in bells and Whistles that a top notch detectorist has no use for,All those bells and TV screens do is drain battery power. That is why Tesoro is still selling there detectors. There is a old saying in my field of mechanics,if it ain't broke don't fix it.The more simply a mechanical or electronic device is built and gets the job done the better that device is,because it is less likely to fail.::thumbup:
