Opinion on a Excal 1000 with Koss headset

I was wondering what you all thought of this detector selling used for 800 bucks? It comes with accessories from a packaged deal and a Garrett Ultra GTA-1000. It looks like the owner hardly used the machine. The battery for the minelab is a nicad. If he hardly used the machine, what is the probability of the battery and housing being destroyed?

I currently use a white's PI and was toying with the thought of trying something different like a VLF machine.

I like mine alot, outstanding machine that will find the gold and silver in saltwater beaches. Some people have had problems with theirs but so far, mine has operated great, no complaints here except for the headphones, not the best in the world. I took mine apart, added some weatherstripping on the inside for noise reduction, plugged the drain holes with silicone since I don't dive, adjusted the headband to my head and glued the headband with silicone and now it won't move or get loose while on my head, made a world of difference. If the excal is in good working order and doesn't leak, yes, I would say that is a good deal. John
