opinion on 1942D mecury dime

I need your guys opinion on this 1942 D mecury dime. I want to see if you guys see what I see. 2 over the 1. Thanks for your help.

I sure see the Die Doubling, but not the 1.

It is definitely not the Philadelphia one. There is a Denver variety with just the point of the "1" peaking over the top of the "2". Kinda see a vertical slash in the field of the "2" but could be something else?

I see something above the "1" that looks like the number "2" but it is a scratch, or some other light mark.
So ... what are you getting at?

Alien intervention or something ... hidden masonic symbols ... treasure leads ?

Hey Willee, The overdate would be visible under the left side of the "2" (with the top point of the one barely peeking over the "2" 10:30 or so). Hooked up another keyboard (that I can zoom with) and doesn't look to be the overdate. That variety is a very difficult one to find. When going through large amounts of Mercury Dimes,we have never found either variety, at the coin shop I work at.

Listen real close.....I don't know where it is coming from (or if it is that pesky 16D's voice again) but they are calling us!

On the Philly dime the overdate is more obvious. (The D overstrike wasn't accepted as one for awhile even.) Is it a weak strike? No...just not as visible as the other due to placement and positioning of the underlying 1.
