Opening up the ETrac

I'm doing long hunts and most of the time I am opening up the Etrac to totally open screen on 2 tone ferrous. It makes the metal detectorist use their skill. Anyone else use this technique?

Latest hunt with 18 x 15 here:

Yep also. High tones are above 17Fe and a quick glance at the screen tells me what it could be. Then I narrow down on the target, moving coil just a tad (1/2 - 1") over top to isolate just the subject target (don't want to include nearby targets if possible). I check the depth combined with the isolated TID and move around it if necessary to check TID stability, then decide from this whether to dig or not. Pretty simple. Find it fast and accurate. Gotta go slow though, no big sweeps.

yup and double yup. That's the setting I always use in fields and sites where there is little new, shallow trash. I don't even use the little bit of discrimination on the top and bottom lines, I've found that in a lot of cases that little bit of discrim. will knock out the really deep goodies like 10+ inch deep 69 caliber bullets (which you would think would hit good even with discrimination). HH

Brilliant, thanks! I don't look at the screen really and I dig high beeps even if the number is above 17. I sweep fast but am very aware of sounds

That's how I hunt most of the time. It works even better in the high trash areas where you get mixed signals due to mulitple targets under the coil.
