Opening .mlf Files With A Mac

I can't open the videos in the Resource Center due to the fact that that I use a Mac. Any sugesstions other than buying a different computer or running Windows on my Mac? Thanks!

As you found out, mlf. files cannot be opened on in MAC OS. If you want your Mac to run Windows (which is the route I took), check out a cheap Windows 7 program on eBay or your favorite seller. ( I found one for under $100 bucks) You can download Windows on a Mac two ways, the first is to use the native Bootcamp which can be found in your utilities folder (this is what I did). It's fairly straight forward and will load your Windows software on a seperate partition. The downside of using Bootcamp is that you have to shut down from your Mac OS everytime you want to switch to Windows. The other is more expensive is to buy a software package called Parallels. (I think it runs for about $80 bucks). With this route, you can run Windows 7 and Mac OS at the same time thus avoiding the shutdown. Once you get a copy of Windows 7 on your Mac, it's easy to download XChange2.
Good Luck

I have read where others are purchasing used Win 7 laptops from eBay and other locations (you may have a used computer shop in your town) for less than the cost of the Win 7 program alone. Just a possible alternative. Let us know how your fare. Of course, you know that as soon as you go to the expense of making this work for you, Minelab will come out with a Mac compatible version of the exchage2 software, at least, that's how it usually works for me!

From Indiana University comes this info that may be of help if you have an Intel processor in your Mac.......

Intel-based Macs
Because newer Macs use Intel processors, they can run Windows and Windows applications as quickly as PCs. Several different methods are available for running Windows on Intel Macs:

To dual-boot between OS X and Windows, use Apple's Boot Camp. This approach provides the most compatibility with Windows software and peripherals, but does not allow you to run Windows and Mac OS X applications at the same time.

To run Windows in a virtual machine within OS X, use Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion, or VirtualBox. This method will allow you to run Mac and Windows applications concurrently, though the virtual machine does not support as much Windows functionality as a dual-boot configuration.

To run Windows programs without having to install Windows itself, use a Windows compatibility layer, such as CrossOver Mac. This option typically offers good functionality for a limited set of Windows applications.

Hope some of this works for you.......

Thanks guys. I'll prob go the cheap laptop route since I miss having one to take with me when I'm away from my desktop. Gotta keep up with all the good stuff y'all find. Watch for Minelab the forthcoming Mac compatible software update - as Roland said will happen shortly after I buy.

I am having trouble downloading this and I have windows 7 /adobe reader and can not open the file. I have tryed a number of thing nothing worked as of yet, any sugestions. Thanks

Yeah, it's a bit of a problem all right when a Mac user / owner.
The 'downunder' designers didn't appear to show much respect for Mac users with 2 versions of 'XChange' [ non Mac compatible ]
However, after the stellar performance Apple has enjoyed this last financial quarter due to the iPhone 6 AND iMac, who knows, it might all change with the next iteration of the CTX 7070 and the NEW XChange 3...

Finally, we have our answer regarding updates for the CTX 3030. The new CTX 7070 and XChange3 are already in the works. So......break out your pocketbooks CTX 3030 users because your update is coming in the form of a new toy!!!
Well, on the upside, it could be more MAC user friendly!!

And the rumor mill has begun

Doesnt the ctx 3030 is a supermachine so that you can upgraded every now and then, thats why i purchase a CTX 3030 , why would they make a ctx 70 70?

Maybe like with Windows they're skipping Windows 9 and going right windows 10.

Hopefully they are working on the next latest and greatest coin / relic detector, but I think they have their engineers working on gold machines for now..
