Opening and repairing switch & battery leads on a Fisher 1265x

Hello guys, I have recently bought a fisher 1265x working except for a few problems...
1. The toggle switch underneath has snapped off and needs replacing
2. The battery plugs are corroded and i need to replace the battery leads.
Can anyone tell me how to open up the 1265x please, and I had one years ago and I remember there being a small paperclip earth lead inside that you have to be carefull moving!!! also is there any way of opening the white centre block in the battery compartment in order to get access to the battery leads. thank you in advance

Yes!

Look at the coil connector and see if it has two screws beside it, if it does remove them and push on the connector, this will allow the main board, front panel to slide out the front of the housing. The two screws are not for the connector, it will come out with the main board.
Now, you will have to be careful and not slide it out to far without disconnecting the few wires that go to the toggle, and the battery box. They are just long enough to allow you to work with them.

Well, did you get it apart yet?

Hi Mark, Thank you for instructions, sorry never got topic reply notification. Out detecting tomorrow and work Monday, so will have a go on Tuesday. I will have to be carefull not to bring out too far as you have said. Do you know if the battery block...the white thing that the battery leads go into can be opened, as i also have to change battery leads.

I'm not sure about the white part, but I'm thinking that is just a plug or cap, I think it just pops out.

Ok mark I just checked my 1265X and I have the new screw type and it looks like they used a little adhesive on it.

Shooter, do you think that maybe that's a sealer? or actually helping to hold it together? I pulled my 1266 apart once and when I took those two screws out the inside and the front panel pulled right out the front.

two screws on the back of the case by the coil connector and maybe the charger jack nut and it should slide out if I remember right.
